I Hate Confusion!

1Co 14:33 MSG  When we worship the right way, God doesn’t stir us up into confusion; he brings us into harmony. This goes for all the churches—no exceptions.

God Confuses the Enemy

Read 2 Chronicles 20

In the KJV the above verse declares ‘God is not the author of confusion…’.  This is true, yet, God has used confusion as a tool to see His’ will fulfilled.  The first time he used confusion was at the tower of Babel. The other example is found in the next portion of scripture I have mentioned in this article.

Israel had an enemy to face and not sure of how they could defeat them.  Jehoshaphat begins to pray to God asking for wisdom.  To make a long story short, God instructs the men of God to put together a choir.  To most military leaders this would seem like folly.  How do you fight an enemy using a choir?  Yet the leaders obey God and a choir is assembled.

Just before this here is what God speaks to Jehoshaphat:

2Ch 20:17 MSG  You won’t have to lift a hand in this battle; just stand firm, Judah and Jerusalem, and watch GOD’s saving work for you take shape. Don’t be afraid, don’t waver. March out boldly tomorrow—GOD is with you.”

Well morning arrives and the men of God gathers the newly formed choir and instructs them to go ahead of Israel and begin to sing praises to God.

I can imagine the enemy hearing this choir must have thought that the leaders of Israel had lost their mind.  Yet, the enemy did not know what God had planned.

Not long after the choir begins to sing praises God allows confusion to come into the enemy camp.  They began to slay each other.  Just as God had promised the enemy was defeated and the army of Israel did not lift one sword or threw one spear.

I am somewhat a different type of person.  When I want to study the Scriptures I do it in the late evening when the phone is quiet and where I can turn off all other noises in my home.  Sometimes before starting to study I will sit at my organ and just play for a time.

When I was in high school there were nights I couldn’t sleep so I would go downstairs sit in front of my fish aquarium and read my Bible.  Remember, this was before cell phones, computers, and of course cable tv.

Sometimes I have found myself feeling uncomfortable within a group setting, except for when I was ministering in song or the Word.  I am much better with an one on one situation.

Some of my greatest meetings have been times where I would find my way to the piano and begin to minister.  Most times my back was towards the congregation.  I couldn’t see what was happening within the sanctuary, but when I would turn around after many minutes of ministering in song there would be people standing on their feet, tears flowing down their cheeks and just worshipping before God.  It was at those times where I never read a Biblical text or deliver any type of sermon, but would hear testimonies later on of how people were met by God and their spiritual needs fulfilled.

I have written in past articles that is is noisy out there.  If you really want to know God and His Son, Christ Jesus, you need to shut out the noise and confusion of the world you are living in.  This is when you will hear God’s voice in your innermost being.

1Ki 19:12 MSG  and after the earthquake fire, but GOD wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.

Everyone wants a thunderclap, a booming voice(noise), or through someone else having a word of wisdom.  The God I know, doesn’t usually speak in a wind storm but that very quiet still small voice.

I would encourage those who are reading this to find a time where you can shut out the confusion of the world and create a time of worship and study so that God can speak, and lead you.

If it Itches…

2 Timothy 4:3-4 MSG
3  You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy.
4  They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages.

I am a person who loves watching news coverage.  To me it is like an adrenaline rush, especially when the headline is aligning to Biblical prophecy.  I get excited and can barely contain myself.  My mind begins to run in over-drive as portions of Scripture race through my thoughts.

Sometimes I have found myself to wake up during the night with a thought about a Scripture verse on my mind, then having to get out of bed and open up the Bible to look at the Scripture to see what it says in context with the Scripture verses surrounding it.

Over the past several decades a doctrine has emerged from the ‘word of faith’ ministries.  This doctrine says no matter what you cannot be critical of the leaders of what they preach and teach.  If you are critical about things being taught you are told that you are creating divisions.  You are to love no matter what so there is unity.  This teaching is false.

I will begin to show why I believe this type of teaching is dangerous. I want to quote the King James version of the verse I have mentioned above.

2 Timothy 4:3 KJV For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Also let’s look at the following Scriptures:

2 Timothy 3:13-17 MSG
13  Unscrupulous con men will continue to exploit the faith. They’re as deceived as the people they lead astray. As long as they are out there, things can only get worse.
14  But don’t let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—
15  why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk! There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16  Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.
17  Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

Christ also gave a warning while speaking to the disciples.

Mark 13:22-23 MSG
22  Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better.
23  So watch out. I’ve given you fair warning.

I am convinced that if there is not a change or shakeup in North America many will lose their salvation.  There are going to be many that will hear those terrible words,

Matthew 25:41 MSG
41  “Then he will turn to the ‘goats,’ the ones on his left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good for nothing but the fires of hell.

Many have the wrong assessment of what is of God.  Large congregations, wealth of money, and much more does not define being blessed of God.

People follow signs and wonders, but, for the most part these are lying signs and wonders.

I have seen the horrible results of these things.  I have witnessed people giving money to a evangelist, money that should have been for food and shelter, believing if they gave money God would bless them.  This prosperity gospel is a dangerous, lying doctrine that is rooted in one word, ‘greed’.

I pray that those who read this will turn aside from these false doctrines.  There needs to be a return to those who will stand up and expose preachers who are expounding these doctrines.

Yes, I believe in showing others love, but, sometimes love is shown by correction.

I love my daughter, but, when she was young sometimes correction was needed to keep her from harm.

God is also the same with His’ children.

Pray that God will shake up and root out these false doctrines being taught by ravenous wolves in the pulpits of North America.

The Brush by Chuck Millhuff

I first heard this song when I was a teenager.

The Brush

Life started out like a canvas,
And God started painting on me,
But I took the paintbrush from Jesus,
And painted what I wished to see.

The colours I painted kept running,
And the objects were all out of size,
I had made a mess of my painting,
My way now seemed so unwise.

Then I gave my painting to Jesus,
All the colours, all the pieces so wrong.
In the markets of earth it was worthless,
But His blood made my painting belong.

He worked with no condemnation,
(Tag) Never mentioned the mess I had made.
Then He dipped His brush in the rainbow,
And signed it, the price has been paid.

When I gave the brush back to Jesus,
When I gave the brush back to Him
He started all over life’s canvas to fill,
When I gave to Jesus the brush of my will.
