As a child I had expectations, dreams of what I would do when I grew up. Every child has the same dreams, dreams of success, who they will marry, how many children they will have.

Christmas was a time of great expectations also.  What type of gifts would be under the tree.  Question of if we would get the present I had been hoping for.

Parents have expectations of their kids.  Some try to live vicariously through their children.  I am sure my parents had those same hopes for me.  Well, my father wanted me to take up a trade which was the farthest thing in my plans.  My mother just wanted us to be the best of whatever we decided.

Expectations do not always come to fruition, which can bring about a sense of failure, despair, and the ultimate low, depression.

This year has only a few weeks left in it.  The new year starts fresh, clean, and for most hopeful.  Maybe, our expectation is that we won’t make the same mistakes that we did this year.

I tempered my expectations quite a while ago. I take it one hour at at time, one day, one year at a time.

So, here is to expectations, hopes, and dreams of 2020!

My Year In Review – 2019

It seems hard to believe that this year will soon be over.  For me I can think that it seemed like yesterday when my daughter and grandchildren were here for Boxing Day.

This year has had some surprises for me, mostly good things.  Some of those are something I will always cherish.

  • Cortisone shots in my back – much needed relief from pain
  • Meeting great people through the medium of WordPress
  • My writing style becomes more focused
  • Learning some more basics of blogging
  • No major emergency

That in general is my year in review of 2019.  When 2020 comes in I will continue to allow things to flow freely.

There is one thing I do not do on New Year’s Eve, I do not make resolutions.  For me it is just something to get depressed about when I break the resolution.

So, for all those who read this may the New Year be kind to you!
